What I meant was on isolated sets, like the Pye P75, it's a simple matter to connect a socket across the volume control whereas it's a bit iffy on a live chassis set.
Micro transmitters are certainly a good solution but not being an expert in such things I'm wary about spurious emissions due to harmonics that I don't know about.
