Here are a few more pictures which might be of interest whilst I have the file out.

They cover hand drilling the holes; roughing cut in the lathe; bringing down to exact maximum diameter; removing bulk of waste with a Forstner bit and the wooden parts used for mounting purposes.

I like the challenge of these unusual jobs.
