Yes, a 'senior moment' indeed - it will come to you young 'uns in time - don't put me in a home!! (Actually, the PC term for what was 'senior moment' is 'intellectual interlude', but it amounts to the same thing). I'm so accustomed to VHF sets having an ECC85, which will invariably be past its best, and no doubt often the reason that the set was consided to the attic due to the loss of VHF, that I overlooked the fact the the VHF70 is AC/DC. I guess that the UCH85 fares no better than the ECC85 in terms of longevity. I thikn the only uffrence is the heater voltage.
Glad to hear that your bid for the auction lot which contained the Ultra Troubadour was successful Joe. You might even make a bit on the other nick-nacks that came with the radio!
