Hi Gary,
Wow!
Admittedly, it was a British Gas engineer that last tried to convince me of this. I arrived at my mothers house to find him replacing a pump and insisting she get a £700 powerflush, and a Magnaclean filter. I asked how come sludge was able to form if BG service the system annually, and was met with a lot of bluster about how it's impossible to maintain inhibitor in a non-sealed system... Of course, in general, BG don't seem to actually service anything; they appear to perform the most perfunctory of safety tests with a flue gas analyser, and nothing else if this is OK. But had they checked the strength of the inhibitor, they wouldn't be able to force the power-flushes on unsuspecting customers. I'm with Jeff Howell on this one* - I simply can't understand why people continue to give this company their money.
* I seem to agree with a lot of what he says. I promise I'm not on commission
All the best,
Mark

Wow!
