Having read the posts prior to this one and also having read all of the information available on that Web Site - including the links therein - it's time for me to retract my earlier comment, as in post #4. My apologies to the gentlemen in question if he did read that earlier post - and took offence.
Please let me explain. Upon reading all of that Web Site information, things are not as they seem at first glance. This gentleman has clearly had a very busy life, working in and travelling to many places in the world; he has done a lot of original work in electronics and radio, and he has probably amassed a small fortune as a consequence - mainly through his own efforts, skill and knowledge (plus bit of good fortune) - the pictures and description of his home clearly indicate that. However, it also appears that although he is 'retired', he and his wife run a business from their home (and other associated buildings) in the hospitality trade. It is also likely that he runs a sales and repair business from his home in electronics & radio as well. In other words, he's probably 'semi-retired' and self-employed, with some 'spare time' on his hands.
So I asked myself this: If I was in his position, with all that expertise, entrepreneurship, building space, time, and a life-time of enthusiasm for the hobby, would I not have done - and be doing - just the same thing?
And the answer is an unreserved "yes!".
