I've seen the restored set at close quarters - it looks even more remakable - the French polish is perfection!
Although I've got several bakelite sets including an Ekco A22 - in my vew, the best of the round Ekcos, I'm very much a fan of woodies. Some of the late 1930s woodies are a delight to behold, but in their unrestored state put off many restorers who - unlke colin - haven't risen to the challenge of tackling a woody set, other than stripping one and giving it a couple of coats of Danish oil, irrevocably changing its appearance. Hopefully, Colin's comprehensive 'tutorials' on French polishing will encourage us all to follow that route, myself included, with a sad looking 'Barker 88'.
