According to the driver it looked like a horizontal roman candle going off. What saved the majority of adjacent wiring was the fitted arc shute which managed to contain the contact copper tip that had melted into a slag pile. However, the adjacent L5 breaker was damaged during the event by radiated heat and I had to change the L7 breaker when refitting the busbar as the threads stripped during refitting. Total downtime was three months as it included shedding a large number of key relays and contactors during the works.
One downside, you get to know when the vultures are circling. Couple of jumped up armchair experts with no contact with myself or Dennis were spouting bull on the internet that the loco had suffered seriosu fire damage and was being sold for scrap. I think the schools were closed early on those days and the little boys were using the computer without mommys permission. A bit of putting into place was required. Kids!
