Thanks Al, no worries, offence did not cross my mind, the point I was making in my earlier post was that for some in the hobby plug and play is the only option in a time constrained world...kids, wife, family, putting food on the table, the daily grind etc this leaves little time for many to do the full homebrew/construction/experimentation stuff, it's a shame but that's the way of the world, myself and many others are lucky to a certain extent as we do have time to pursue the hobby.
I agree with you about what your say about technical ignorance amongst some of the amature operators and some of the myths that seem to abound.
I listen when I can to some of the UK nets and a lot seem to fill the air time with "Yes you're 5 & 9 plus 10 also" and thats about it, sometimes very boring.
When I can recieve them I try and listen to the AM net on 3.615 ....far more interesting.
But....if the demand for the plug and play rigs wasn't there then they wouldn't sell any, the fact that they do says it all, as long as we are all talking and listening to the world thats the main thing. So long as there are more of that kind and less of the overseas person I heard on 80 tonight then thats good, can't say what he was saying otherwise I will get banned from the forum....he was a complete selfish swearing idiot spoiling the frequency for everybody, I hope is ears drop off.
