You're completely correct, they are not lightest pieces of equipment It was a spur of the moment acquisition. I had to get it out of the back of the car, shut car door while carrying aforementioned AR-88, open front door, shut front door, run upstairs with it (I kid you not) and hide it under my desk before my partner saw it. Luckily the X-Factor TV show was on and rarely does she budge from the sofa while it is. She still hasn't spotted it.
I'm just collecting some parts for it at the moment. It's a LF version and the 735 crystal is missing, it does work but is totally deaf on bands 4-6. I've got a new crystal coming but it is a set that's going to take a little time to put right, unlike my usual fare of 'plug 'n' play' Murphys and Ekcos. I've not had a good chance to delve into its internals yet.
