Dial Lights, what Dial Lights?
I'm pretty sure mine hasn't got any, and the Schematic doesn't show any. No wonder it's stopped working if you've been bodging some in, you've upset it.
Anyway, the IF Frequency is 470kHz and you have a Signal Generator and a 'scope, so start using them.
Injecting some af into the top of the volume control is a good starting point - don't forget a capacitor in series. Then work backwards.
