That is interesting Joe a few years ago I did something similar I made strings of 12 LED's in series and fitted them to a 24 volt PSU thinking I would work out the resistor value empirically but I found that it wasn't needed with each string drawing about 15 mA. I made three strings and fixed them to a small Xmas tree for my son and it lasted about 15 years being dragged out every Xmas until we got fed up with the tree and threw it out LOL
