As well as white light LEDs, you can get 'warm white' which might be nearer to the effect of the original bulbs, though from what Joe says, they look fine. I'm always on the lookout for things that can be adapted, and came across some interesting 'warm white' Christmas LED lights (Yes, with 22 weeks to go, but with the nights already drawing in, they've started advertising Crimbo already!). Not all LEDs need a series resistor, and maybe these don't. An array of 20 to run on 3V, with the leads already soldered onto the LEDs, would provide enough LEDs to properly illuminate ten DAC90As

Not bad for £5.50, but the killer is £5.99 P&P, though no doubt very soon, this stuff will be in Poundland and the like.
To quote The Kinks, 'I am a dull and simple boy - cannot tell water from champagne' but to my mind, the issue of DAC90A dials lights is a 'no brainer' if a simple reversible mod can solve the problem. Quite simply, 'lights' that don't illuminate are not fit for purpose. It's not simply a feature of the DAC90A - it's a design flaw at the R&D stage. The dial on a radio is such a central feature, and makes such a difference to the appearance of the DAC90A, if indeed it's going to be used rather than put on a shelf to gather dust, in which case why bother to restore it?
Just my point of view - not trying to start an argument, and I don't expect everyone to see things my way.
