Of course LEDs do not have to be limited to DAC90s and such that had dial ilumination originally.
I have a Lady Margret that has the translucent volume and tuning knobs lit from behind with violet (read expensive) LEDS that looks superb in the dark.
As I mentioned before, most Roberts work well with this modification due to the space available behind the perspex scale.
Many of my radios have the dual function of providing light in our caravan.....
