Thanks for the advise. It certainly isn't fair to judge it before it's finished. I greatly improved it after my inital test by the simple expedient of tightening the contacts in the base of the output valve.

I was wondering about the Westector as I know nothing about them or their reliability. As that is part of what sets the design apart I'm pleased to hear that it should be OK.

Since my earlier post I've set the tuning mechanism up properly as well, so thanks Tony for the scale scan and Rob for the drive cord drum.
