Hi,
Many thanks for your reply David; it was a pleasure to show you the kit in the garage and workshop and I agree entirely that it is so sad to see so much of our top quality machines sell for scrap value. If a 3 phase machine is powered by belts via motor then depending on the machine it is sometimes possible to convert it quite cheaply by swapping the 3 phase motor for a single phase motor and also swapping the starter; both motor and starter can usually be bought quite cheaply second hand; I have done this many times and ended up with industrial grade machines for little money.I'll add the bandsaw rebuild to the forum shortly as it might be of interest for members to see what is available and what costs are involved. It certainly is a nice bit of kit and gets a lot of use.
Kind regards, Col.
