I'm wondering why they chose 24 FPS for film? Was there some technical reason, or just happenstance?
Read somewhere that TV programs like Bonanza, Dallas, Star Trek ect were shot on film so they could be sent to any TV station in the world & wouldn't need any field &/or line conversion gubbins, so skint stations in third world countries would just bung it in their telecine gubbins & away you go...
