There's a G101 story, probably apocryphal, but worth telling. As the name suggests, the connector has 101 pins and is heavy. At an OB in mountain country a substantial length of G101 was laid with great difficulty to put a camera in a suitably remote place up a hill. It had been laid the wrong way round. There are no male to male or female to female adpators available so a decision had to be made. Either pull it all out, or reterminate the connectors in situ. The story goes that they reterminated.
I find this hard to believe as terminating G101 to its connector is a skilled and difficult job under optimum conditions on the factory bench. Doing it up a mountain strikes me as almost impossible.
