I'm sorry, Sam. It is a pain, I agree. What we need is something that will resize the images automatically (and hopefully get the rotation right, which is by no means guaranteed), but that would be a 3rd-party plugin as it's not a core part of the forum software. We have been caught out in the past with those, unfortunately, which leaves me hesitant to try any more. It might be different if I had more time to devote to the forum, but I'm busier than ever at the moment, so don't have the time to test the various plugins on my test machine.
I also share, to an extent, the sentiment expressed in your last line. I've recently paid the hosting bill for another year, but went through the usual round of "why am I doing this" thoughts. We've all seen my previous attempts at "drumming up business", but those threads don't really go anywhere because there are no simple answers. The internet is changing, and people's lives and situations change as well. Therefore, internet forums are nowhere near as active as they used to be. It's the same the world over. I still get a lot out of reading through various forums, but it's rare that I'm able to contribute because of the time pressures I have.
I've no idea about the future of this place. We typically average around 30 visits from logged in members a day. We often go days and days with no new posts. It's barely alive. What should I do?
Anyway, I have just deleted the "orphaned" uploads, so you shouldn't get the duplicate error message. I totally understand if you don't want to try again, but thank you for starting the thread and at least trying to generate some interest.
