We went from BT Residential with a copper landline to BT Business Broadband (no choice here) and ported our landline number to VoIPfone (£6/pcm including most calls) - using their gateway you can keep your analogue POTS phones - we have used Panasonic DECT phones for years and I didn't see any reason to change those.
