£750 would buy a lot more than a Sound bar (most of which are rubbish), but a decent 4K TV, Yamaha home theatre amp with HDMI switching and five speakers, better than most sound bars. Most sound bars are little better than 1990s PC desktop speakers. Some are worse. Decent and affordable speakers are trickier now to find than the electronics. Perhaps home made "infinite baffle" boxes and drive units are attractive again, like 1960s to early 1970s.
My Yamaha amp uses two sets of 1970s & 1980s HiFi speakers, a centre speaker is the survivor of a 3rd HiFi pair and the sub woofer is an ancient Tandy bass guitar speaker in a Bass Guitar box someone threw away because the speaker was burnt out. I did buy a smaller pair of Warfdales at the same time as the amp, but I put them in the library instead on an old Rotel RA-810.
Decent speakers have never been cheap?
Also even a cheap 1950 radio was often on HP or rented in the UK or Ireland and in inflation that's about the value of a cheap 55" 4K TV today.
