Heck of a bargain, especially since I don't remember using any of them having become employed shortly thereafter & being rich enough to buy stuff with markings on.
Top Hat rectifiers: it's a while since I've seen one of those. I don't think I've ever encountered a reverse polarity one.
The ft test (continued) has progressed this afternoon, with a 3 position switch added.
And it, and the switch, still work.
The alternative variable capacitor has a threaded mounting boss: precisely the same diameter as a pot mounting boss.
Bit of a shame, therefore, that the thread is a different pitch.
The various el cheapo dvms I connected to a battery this afternoon proved impressive in their lack of agreement about the voltage.
