Some of mine use the spring clip which is certainly easie
Might be an idea to get a pair of steps, with a hand grab rail, Sean. One fall at your or my age might be a disaster.

I have bought long and short body LED types and am going to fit them in place of all the working Halogen bulbs. Not so much for power saving as hopefully the LEDs will last longer and the older I get the less likely it is I will want or be able to change them.
I have thought of doing the same for the 5ft flourescent tube at the same time
