I posted in a hurry ! Should have included a pic of the fitting with the 'correct' short bulb as some may not have come to use these, my advice steer clear. There are types around that use a small Edison screw which are much easier to fit as you dont have to alighn the tricky baynet of the GU10. For ones that have the bulb housings mounted externally on a plate, I have one that uses a screw off short ring so the bulb can be grasped and no sucker needed.
The long barrel ones are a modern idea and I havent looked for a fitting for these but as shown they go in the older fittings with the extension that can be grasped.
Why have they made these long body types? Possibly to allow more room for components and better interference suppresion.
