I have just bought a first Smart Phone, a Goggle Pixel 8a. Bought from Ballicom as they were the best price. No problems. went for it as it has a very high brightness of more than 2000 NITs. Didnt know what they were and if you are interested see; https://riverdi.com/blog/nits-vs-lumens-...ss-metrics
Tried taking pics in the garden with the sun behind me and, on the phone; you can still see the screen image. With a bit of body screening its even better of course. The auto brightness works well outdoors but gets a little confused in LED lighting. Reason for wanting a visible screen outdoors is we hope to be doing some solo walking next year and using OS Maps.
For a case I bought a Spigen which is a very tight rubbery sleeve used with screen protector. Their method of applying it is clever and fool proof. Easier to get in and out of a pocked that those foldable cases. They do a camera protector but I'm not bothering with this.
Your teach in Rob .of changing over to a new phones was interesting as my wife nows wants an upgrade which I'm ignoring for the time being
