Hi,
I have just acquired a Columbia 229B turntable and looking for some advice and help.
Does anyone know what date these units came into use?
Inside the base, I found a large grommet and a packet of needles.
There is a buzzing from the motor and the auto stop mechanism appears to be worn away and doesn't work but that's not a problem at the moment.
The coil in the pickup seems to be intact but I'm puzzling over a little tag board with a couple of resistors that is providing a junction point for the pickup wiring. There is a screw and washer that appears to be connect with these resistors but don't know what they are used for.
Earlier in this posting someone mentioned the rubber parts in the pickup going hard. I assume that this will cause a low output but please correct me if I got it wrong.
Does anyone have a way to fix these faults.
Is there any service data for this unit as I would like to get it working properly.
Cheers.
