Apart from circuit simplicity, are there any practical advantages to being able to use a single modulator? The component costs of a second modulator are very small, though the I2C address shifting has to be accomplished somehow with the readily available version. In my board I’ve used a relatively expensive single package to do that (£3) but a simpler chip select circuit would be possible or even bit banging a second I2C channel but for my V1 hat I didn’t want to tackle that.
Also 4Mhz oscillators and crystals are readily available, and I’m interested in the mixing of the two signals to generate other interesting frequencies.
