I haven't been in touch with Darryl for a long time but I think the total number of Auroras is around 1000.
I'm sure this far exceeds the numbers of Dinosaurs, Pineapples and Dominos. Perhaps Frank and Stephen can estimate the total of Hedghogs. Since they have open source hardware people can build them without Frank or Stephen knowing about it.
Even with the electron guns, CRT rebuilding still needs a great deal of knowhow, much of which has been lost. I agree that high vacuum technology is easier now but that's just part of the problem.
I'll soon be publishing information about the Eidophor TV projector that the BECG has inherited from the late Lucien Nunes' collection. It would be a formidable task to make that work again. https://www.earlytelevision.org/eidophor.html http://tech-ops.co.uk/next/eidophor/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidophor Ours may be the only one that exists in Europe.
