405 lines from Raspberry Pi 5

Hi
I have a Raspberry Pi5 I use for Ham clock and other related stuff. I'd like to try this before all my vintage 405 line stuff goes, (just two 405 line sets left) I'd probably get another SD card and use that, but my programming skills are dreadful and no doubt I'd brick the Pi. If I send a blank card would someone be able to load it up for me?

As long as you are using a separate SD card for 405 line there is no danger of doing any harm to the Pi. I have tried very hard and failed!

I would strongly suggest that you download and install it to a SD card yourself.
Because if you are able do that . You can mess up as many times as you want without fear. As all you have to do to start over from scratch is reinstall it.

To install it download and install the "Raspberry Pi Imager" from here.
It can be installed on any computer and is used to install the Raspberry Pi operating system onto the SD card.

Then download the Raspberry Pi operating system image to the computer that you have the Raspberry Pi Imager installed on.
The image you want is 2023-12-05-raspios-bookworm-armhf.img.xz
And it can be found here.


Once it has downloaded open the Raspberry Pi Imager
In the first box select "Raspberry Pi 5"
In the second box select "Use custom" Then in the window that opens find and select the Raspberry Pi image you have Just downloaded.
In the third box select the SD card you want to install it on.

If it is a windows computer it will want reformat it. Just ignore those messages.
You will also be asked "Would you like to apply OS customisation settings?
You can say no and continue with the installation.
But if you say yes. You will be able to fill in Name, Password, wifi settings, etc. that will be used on the Pi.
The best part is that if you want to reinstall the operating system again the settings will be saved and you wont have to fill them out every time you reinstall.
