I’ve managed to get RealVNC working again so the Pi can be controlled headless without a mouse or keyboard from another device, in my case an iPhone. Haven’t got audio via RealVNC yet but can’t see why this shouldn’t be possible. Though the interface on the phone is the same resolution as the video it doesn’t suffer from clipping and appears higher resolution so is easier to navigate.
I think this is the practical route to using a Pi5 as a 405/525/625/819 source for analogue TV.
My only 819 TV isn’t too clever either, but clearly the mode works fine.
