Completely different to the classic 153 coder, except that it's still using +/-9V. Mike Cox adopted those voltages because he did a lot of his early experiments with a pair of PP9s.
The other plug-in boards look like a homebrew Y delay line.
Odd that they are using what look like metal can 1496 modulators. The plastic parts were readily available and cheaper.
I assume the EPROM is doing some kind of random logic.
Not sure I can deduce much more from the pictures. Really need a manual to get the best out of it.
