Yes, about 1991 or 1992. I used it once. Decided it was beyond my students.
It was only for learning and used a micro Kernel. The developer was I think Andrew Tannenbaum? Anyway, Linus Torvalds later wrote the Linux Kernel (released 1993) and he was the student of the Minix developer, who disparaged it. It's a success, but not because the kernel is a good idea.
