How to get the next generation interested in using hand and eye

Before a few hundred years ago all creatures kept clean my washing themselves (licking etc.) and kept a small amount of pathogens "getting to" them, immune system takes care. These days (as Refugee said) we are all washed to f**k, no wonder allergies are increasing at an alarming rate. By all means vaccinate for the deadly things but don't scrub until that it your only defence.
Stay a bit grubby, stay happy. Have a bit of danger and get a bit hurt, learn what not to do, stay happy.

Fish and chips, wonderful hand cleaner. Eaten (by hand) with well dirty (from bike work etc.) fingers they turn up nice and clean. And you get a gentle inoculation too.
