According to various sources, research work on the Vera system began in 1952. The Ampex company began work in 1951, when it received a financial grant for work on VTR. The results of the first experiments were poor in all laboratories that dealt with this topic. This discouraged intensive work on VTR. The sharp turnaround came after Ampex developed the 4-head system. This took place around 1954 and was kept a deep secret. This system produced much better images than the competition. In 1956, Ampex presented a ready-made commercial product and received orders for a gigantic amount. The public demonstration of the Ampex product surprised everyone. Only then did the competition realize that it had been devoured. This began the slow process of its death and its technology in a poor quality direction. The Vera system had to wait for a public demonstration, but the fathers of this project knew that it was only of ambitious importance.
