The reason Zoom don't spec max phantom current might be because it's not much! It's about 1.4 mA to the "680" Ω resistor in the cap of mic, giving 1V on the 12V setting. So the mic sort of works on phantom power set to 12V with a "dummy" cell in battery space. Naturally as 1.5V is "despised" as an electret supply, I tried 2 x LR1 (Lady cells), which obviously is about 3V and doesn't quite fit, but plastic holder is held by one screw on metal body and there is space to move it further in. Seems to work with a bit better max level. So of course I tried an A23 (12V probably made out of a stack of 8x alkaline button cells, at least one I took apart years ago was). There is an even smaller 12V. Added a suitable length bolt for AA cell length. Didn't seem any better than 3V.
As the electret mic takes little current I might move the holder so 2 x LR1 works. An AA with spacer nut will still go.
The Zoom sensibly doesn't turn on enabled phantom power (per channel) unless the channel is "on" too.
Probably the big dynamic mics I have wouldn't be hurt by the Zoom phantom power, and there is a visual indication on LCD panel if it's enabled.
