It would seem that my set is an early production model. Later ones did use a 6K7GT IF amplifier instead of the 7H7.
It is said in the Radio & TV Servicing volume that the 7H7 can run into grid current and stop working after 10 minutes or so after switch on.
Later still models went to B7G valves and AC/DC live chassis with half wave rectification. So they finally had a matching set of valves!
