I've got an article somewhere about advances in CRT based TV projection for cinema sized screens. This is pushing the CRT very hard indeed. 70kV and water cooling. Lots of lovely xrays.
The other early large screen TV projector was the Eidophor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidophor The BECG will soon be the new home for an Eidophor. It was originally from Odeon Leicester Square and ended up in the late Lucien Nunes Vaz's collection from which it will be coming to us. I think it will remain as a static exhibit
We also have at least one Talaria: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talaria_projector
The Jumbotron was effectively one small CRT per pixel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumbotron Conceptually similar to some early displays by Baird and others which used one lamp per pixel.
