So the 6V battery valves worse than the 2V ones of the same kind?
The Sylvania (1937 or 1938?) 1.4V octal (appeared in UK also as Mazda Octal and B8 Edge connect from about 1939) were a big boon to dry battery makers! In fact 2V sets with Lead Acid cell were still sold as table models in UK in 1949 to people with no mains as much cheaper to run. Some of these used pre-1939 B5 and B7 design valves changed to Octal during WWII. The early 1940s German types were for NiCd and indeed produced to 1950 and many continental mains/battery sets had NiCd for LT. The East Germans and USSR did specific 1.2V versions of the B7G 1.4V battery series.
There were 0.7V types in valved hearing aids.
