I think Sanyo was the first economical after-market cassette and radio with LW, MW & VHF I saw. I think it must have been about 1972 I fitted one to my dad or mum's car. One issue for VHF was the coax to whip had to be replaced as the inner was a coil to give extra loading on MW/LW. Fortunately roof end accessible under courtesy light. I can't remember how I got the cheap TV coax in. Perhaps I used the old cable to draw it in.
I bought some of the Sanyos and fitted them in wooden boxes with 2 x TV speakers and unregulated 12V PSU as "bedroom" stereos for classmates.
