Shorted rectifier & blown internal fuses in HH VX-150 amplifier

This afternoon I fitted a new on/off switch, checked the pre-amp board and powered up the amp, still without a rectifier. I got 31-0-31 VAC at the mains Tx. secondary which should produce ca. 43-0-43vDC (31 x 1.414), so, all being well the amp will be back in working order once the new rectifier is fitted.

Since my last post on this topic, and after replacing the input/preamp. board (Intermittent slide switches), I have test-run the VX-150 for 2 or 3 hours continuously every day for several days, and it's working perfectly. The amp is the subject of a lengthy thread on diyaudio.com, to which I have contributed quite a number of posts ( I have a different User name on diyaudio, as indeed I do on UKVRRR.) This particular 150, one of two owned by a local studio, is an ex-BBC one, b.t.w.)
