Museum of Curiosities, Hackney

It's marvellous, rather ghoulish, cabinet of curiosities and well worth a visit. Not too much for us vintage tech types but one item caught my attention. See photos. Any ideas?

It looks to be a type of Geissler tube :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geissler_tube

Difficult to say if it is or not as they were made in so many different shapes.

I don't think it's specifically a Crookes tube: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crookes_tube though opinions may differ.

They look quite similar to the one I saw. The main difference is that I didn't see any foil, just a glass ring. Though this could simply be missing. Would still be fun to conenct a tube like that to my induction coil.

Any idea about this one?

I bought some bits at auction the other day but don't have a clue what this is

It's got a connector for a gas pipe at the bottom. What isn't obvious is whether it's for connecting a vacuum pump or letting in a gas.

Is there an electrode at the top? Hard to tell from photo. If there is, it may be a Geissler tube, to demonstrate what happens as it's evacuated.

Geissler tube - looked it up and that sounds about right.  There is a terminal at the top and bottom, an electrode top and bottom, a gas connector and two screw valves at the bottom.  It is still air tight.  

It was an unusual auction - this and 2 other bits I bought by accident that had been included with an inductance.  I bid on a inductance (but didn't think I would get it!) and after I won I realized there was the word 'with' in the auction that I hadn't really looked at - no pictures.

The lot title was

'AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY VARIABLE RADIO COIL BY MUIRHEAD & CO. LTD, WESTMINSTER'

I bid online so was taking a bit of a punt but it looked interesting and I won the auction.  When I went down to pick it up  I was delighted to find the provenance of the coil printed on the label, and then the other bits, as they came of the shelves made me jump up and down with a big smile on my face  

I already had a E.V. megger and the spark gap was described as a voltage demonstrator so I thought it was another part of a megger.

Good job I had a mate with me to pick this stuff up!  We got some odd looks on the tube  

I cant figure out how to open the case for the megger. There are some odd things, one each end that don't seem to open it as I would have thought.
