I think the guy with the stick is Mikelect (not to be confused with Mikey405) in the front row. The way his left arm/sleeve is shown could deceive you into think it belonged to somebody behind him.

I think this was the first occasion when the Aurora SCRF was demonstrated in public. Looking back at my notes and files, there's an email correspondence between Darryl and myself around that time, relating to my review sample of the SCRF405A. On 26/5/2006 Darryl wrote: " I am getting a lot of email lately on when these will start going out. ................ but I wouldn't be able to start sending them out until next week at the earliest." There was clearly a pent up demand.

Well I'm contemplating what type of sync separator to construct.
I have a 74LS123 in stock and am going to give that a whirl. The LM1881 is another dedicated sync separator but more designed for 525/625 and higher line & field rates, I'm not too sure if it would cope with lower line and frame rates or mechanical systems.
I'm also in the process of building a 555 sawtooth generator but again unsure about whether I can sync it up OK.
So far I've had good success down to 96/25p with a synced up function generator.
Lower mechanical systems I believe use the audio output from the Multistandard Aurora for sync if I'm not mistaken.

Lm1881 should do line sync sep on more or less any standard. Not sure about field sync. Can't remember how the ws aurora does mechanical outputs. Not at home but full manuals are on Darryl website.

It is Jeffrey in the "legacy" section.
Mine is quite early but I borrowed your lead a few years ago and re-flashed the firmware. It is a brilliant converter and well used here, the lack of an internal modulator is of no great consequence as it is used for different standards that would need a differing modulator anyway.

From memory when I tried an LM1881 on 405 lines it was OK when equalising pulses were used but gave a double pulse if the equalising pulses were omitted. Line sync was OK.

I can remember that in our lab we used cobble together a spectrum analyser, scope and an extremely simple sawtooth circuit to receive television pictures at playtime.

The LM1881 is very versatile and still available to buy. You can always have something else for standards it doesn't work with.

Well I ordered some LM1881's last night from RS and they arrived this morning    I've now built a the sync separator and a sawtooth oscillator with a 555. Success, it works on all Electronic standards and on 240 & 180 lines OK, not so happy on 120 lines but I have another way to resolve the mechanical standards. Watch this thread.
