Hello People,

As it seems I haven't put an entry here yet, I suppose I really should.
I Collect and restore all kinds of things, mainly televisions, radios, computers, typewriters and also enjoy messing around with musical instruments. My name goes back to me finding a 1930's French Bassoon in an antique shop and not knowing what it was I bought it anyway because it looked intriguing. With a lot of work I got it working and sort of playable, but mainly a lot of fun.
I have since then managed to pick up a 'proper' bassoon that I really can't play to any degree, but I enjoy trying and really appreciate what a great instrument it is.
I have many other interests and will not be bored for a while to come.
So there you have it !

As I said in a previous post, we're a pretty relaxed place. No need to worry about drifting off topic, mentioning ebay etc. Reading the forum rules won't take long because they can be summarised as: "Just be decent and polite". It's worth looking in the archive section to understand how it works. You won't have full access until you made about 15 posts but then you can freely upload and download service data etc.

Alan, in case you hadn't noticed, we're a pretty irreverent bunch here too. A few of us in and around London also have semi-regular get togethers, about twice a year. Last one was at Jeremy's house (Pamphonica). Brianc held the first one and I hosted the 2nd one. You might like to join us for the next one. Probably in July, probably at my place. You could even bring your bassoon

Ah! A Jew's Harp. The only musical instrument that I can play (but haven't done so for at least 50 years) and I'm not even Jewish.
