AP Black Book Scans available for download

I fairly recently uploaded my cleaned up scans of Mr Borinski's Black Book (thanks PPPP) to my Dropbox. There were a couple of errors in the original upload but Jac very kindly pointed out these errors so I have been able to correct them. So if anyone would like to download/read any or all of the sections (12 in all) please send me a PM with your email address so that I can invite you to visit the appropriate folder. All is foc, of course. I would also like to thank Peter Scott for his efforts in photographing his copy which enabled me to include section 5 (missing in Jeffrey's book).

Was section 5 missing in my book? I've got it in front of me and it seems to be there. "Part 5 The picture Channel" etc.

Has anything changed since I did my download on 18th December?

Apparently Simon Vaughan of the APTS received the Shiers Trust Award from the RTS in 2012 to digitise the Black Book. I don't know if the result has been made available. i haven't come across it but equally I haven't looked.

If you remember Jeffrey, I inserted the missing pages reclaimed from Peter's pictures and you "complained" that they were a completely different colour to the rest of the book  
In retrospect, it may have been section 7.7, the black-level clamp!

That's  an interesting comment about Simon Vaughn. I will make inquiries of the RTS.

Just looked again. It was section 5.5, Gamma Corrector that you kindly replaced for me.

Apart from the different paper (the original colour is a light cream, very different to a modern white) , Peter's scans look a little fuzzier than yours when I compare the PDF for 5.5 with ones you did. This isn't to imply any criticism of Peter's scanning, probably just done at a slightly lower resolution.

Having acquired my own copy of the Black Book, I was comparing it with the scanned version of Jeffrey's, I found that section 5.5 is missing in my book. How strange! I will print off the section from Peter's book and insert it into mine.

I have found out why the section 5.5s are missing - in an amendment sheet dated 1950, it clearly states that Section 5.5 is to be removed and discarded.
So did they decide not to bother with gamma correction or were they able to operate the Emitron tube on a suitably non-linear part of its transfer characteristic rather like operating an Image Orthicon tube on the knee in its transfer curve?
