Resistors - not quite ten a penny!

[Yorkie]

To be precise, ten for 2.98 pennies!

600 metal film 0.25 Watt 1% resistors - 20 each of the E12 range for £1.79 'buy it now' post free on a slow boat from China.

Sure, there may be many values that will never get used but a this price, who really cares?

Worth browsing the 'shop' for other stuff.

Admittedly some of it is irrelevant - bizarre even, but there's useful stuff such as heat shrink tubing, DIMM memory modules, USB sticks, and various other electronic and computer related items.

Hope that's of interest.

Thanks for that David, I've just ordered 1200. I only hope that they come sorted, not 1200 loose in a bag, but probably 99% of them will be left to my beneficiaries.

I bought a '1200 Kit' some time ago and they came on Bandoliers all labeled and in Decade Bags. Most impressive.

I note that there's no voltage rating specified in the ebay listing, maybe not suitable for valve voltages.

I haven't had any problems so far. I could put 450 Volts across a highish Value and see what happens.

I have had gold plated phono sockets and a circlip kit from both have been good quality.

They will most likely be 250V rated parts.

[Radio Fixer]

They are probably fine but I'm always suspicious of cheap components. Duds and failures can take time and be frustrating to sort out. No spec with these or quality standard.

Generally, for the small quantity I use, I prefer to buy from Farnell, maybe you get what you pay for. Just looked at some of there similar resistors and they were made in Japan where I would reckon the manufacturing is top quality.

Sorry! I forgot we have been down this path before. We all buy what we prefer. I always measure everything as well before soldering it in circuit, could be me and not read the value right.

I do as well, especially the 0.25W ones with the extra colour band.

John

PS, I can hardly see the 0.125W ones at all without a magnifier.
