An interesting old Coil

The thumbnail is contained in the Exif data - if you upload your crop to the site I linked to and scroll down to "Detailed", you'll see details about it. I'm guessing it's provided to ease browsing photos (as you don't have to load and process the whole .JPG)?

I'm no expert on this stuff, but it's fun finding out. It seems that most browsers ignore the orientation setting in the Exif data, and we're not the only folk to notice:

I'm hoping that this will be fixed by finding an image gallery plugin, but last time I looked, I couldn't find a suitable one for this version of the software. It's on my to-do list

I'm not sure how I'm going to copy it as it's a peculiar size - around 11.75" Square.
It's dated 1932 so it's around the time of the Coil I have.

I've had it Scanned A3 to a pdf. That's 23Mb. I've also Scanned it to Greyscale A4 pdf. That's 15Mb. I've also scanned and cropped all the Pages to fit on A4. They're around 1.5Mb each.
I think the Forum Software would gyp at the first two.
Attached are the Circuits and Notes. The other Pages are the Layouts.

It's interesting that Circuits 4, 5 and 6 are Superhets although I'm not sure that the Neighbours would have been too happy about the Radiation.

Set No: 6 certainly looks like it has the facility to become a radiation special.

The one with cathode injection caught my eye, the regenerodyne I built a while back used cathode injection.

I also liked the Comment in 6 about receiving Stations in two places

I'm a bit disappointed really because I expected that there'd be much more LEWCOS Advertising and hence give some insight into what was available.
Bearing in mind that this was one Manufacturer quite a lot by the look of it.

I've seen LEWCOS stuff on Ebay quite often, I don't know much about the company/history etc.

Ooooh. I hadn't seen that - I'll keep an eye on it.
It's interesting that the 'Coil' Companies also made all sorts of other Wireless bits. I often wonder which was the Chicken and which the Egg.

The company might still survive in some form or other?

I think a lot of radio related companies started originally in other fields of manufacture, National (HRO etc) and Stratton and Co (Eddystone) are two that I can think of amongst others.

Interesting, but what happened after 1961? It's almost into my era, and of course I remember AEI, but not LEWCOS.

Alan, the are some Google Book refs that seem to indicate that Lewcosol wire ( a trade name of some Lewcos products) was being manufactured up to at least 1966.
