Thanks for asking Alan; it will be a four pole motor because the speed is 1,450 rpm. I doubt very much the brushes movement will reverse it thinking as stated previously it might be associated with speed/torque? The easiest way to check is to get the motor running again and test it. Nameplate picture below for you to study.
