Now that I've 'cast' the replacement parts for the bezel, I've started fitting them - two down three to go.

That looks excellent John!

It won't be pretty but it should look way better than when I started.

I beg to differ, looks original to me. Keep us updated, will look forward to pictures of the completed set.

As things are finally moving along I'm now looking at reproducing the B+ battery. The original was an Emce Nr. 760 (90v). Apart from a few (not very satisfactory) photos on RMOrg I can't find any decent images of the label.

Any pointers to info on reproducing these types of battery is most appreciated.

Regarding the bezel, I don't believe I will be able to reproduce the gold colour as the original appears to be some form of gold foil that was most likely fixed using a vacuum process. All attempts with different types of gold paint (brush and aerosol) give a different result. Hopefully it won't look too bad when seen from a distance.

OK, so here is what the bezel looks like. Using paint this is as close as I can get it. At one stage I tried to shoot some clear coat on top of the gold hoping it would give that extra gloss. It backfired - looks like the clear reacted with the gold and the result was a dull yellow colour. Back to the drawing board (well the masking tape!).

I'll let this harden up for a few days then I'll put it all back together. Fitting the bezel means taking the whole set apart again so I'll do it just once and take care of all the remaining cosmetic work on the cab - brightwork, speaker cloth, etc.

Still, looks better than when I started......

An equivalent battery type is the Pertrix Nr.78 which I reproduced for my Philips Colette if you remember. You're more than welcome to those graphics John if you wish? The dimensions are identical, so the internal card box is usuable here too. Again you are welcome to the graphics and construction details.

I had always intended to turn out graphics of the Emce Nr.760 as well, but to-date just haven't got around to it. If you give me a few weeks I may be able to remedy that though. I think I also have some better images of the cover I can pass on if you prefer to do your own graphic.

That's an understatement John! I appreciate the photographs hide some of the details you're not happy with that can be seen with the naked eye, but even so the repaired grille looks superb to me!

Yes I know Bill well, and as Alan says he is a "splendid fellow". We often emailed or PM'd via the UKVRR forum, exchanging several battery cover graphics when he was more active in the hobby a few years ago.

Still have to re-fit the back - once I find some small 3mm rivets or fasteners for the small hinges.
