Just a quickie on this subject.
In my workshop I have two pairs of overhead fluorescent lamps and a small 15-watt fluorescent lamp (with an on/off switch) fitted immediately over the work bench. The amount of QRM that that lot throws out is large : I must get around to fitting some suppressors one day. Fortunately, the tuning dials of my receivers (on an adjacent bench) have illuminated scales!
Yes those flourescents can be a pain, my "shack" is whats supposed to be our dining room, I have a low energy bulb fitted, boy those things are really dim, my Tilly lamp shines brighter.
