If it's the right bloke you could phone him in 1930 on Bexley Heath 257 at 6 Carlton Villas, Welling.
He MIGHT have been born c 1892 and died 1972.

Tracing people is my other life, i have been doing genealogy for years...if any one wants any old phone directory look ups or a rellie look up give us a shout.
It would appear that the chap concerned was not born in this country, the birth year and death that I gave MIGHT be for him, I have searched a few years either side of the birth year sumized from the death registration in Sussex in 1972 and no one of that name was registered as being born around that time in the UK (c 1892) that would fit the bill, this would re enforce the fact that articles suggest he was a foriegn born (Russia possibly) I have searched official port immigration records for the late 1890's early 1900's plenty of Russians but little in the way of full names or occupations that might give a clue.
If he was foriegn and did change his name/naturalize etc it should be in the National Archives, only early naturalization records are on line there at the moment, mainly related to the time of the last big Huguenot influx. If someone really wanted to research him the death certificate could be obtained for the Ralph Judson death I have mentioned there should be some info on it that would say yey or nay. then it could be taken from there. Ralph Stranger (stranger is another word for foriegner) Judson = son of George, or the Russian equvilent of George? just sumizing hear. He could of course come in through the back door but I would say he came from an educated family.
I found a snippet on the web that suggests he was not well in 1968, also a Ralph Judson was involved in the dissolution of partnership of an electrical (I think) contractors in London around the WW1 period (London Gazette) No record of any marriage in the UK. (doesn't mean he wasn't married)

Just some quick thoughts while at work.....

If you're doing any more searching try something along the lines of White Russian (as opposed to Red Russian) officer, maybe came back on one of our ships when Winston sent the Royal Navy Expeditionary Force up there in 1918 -19, so possibly later than the immigration records you've searched already. Also if he has a WWII service record with the Royal Signals and if he was Gazetted? The BBC might be worth a question as he was Head of Advertising for BBC Publications.

Interesting Andew, the expeditionary force might be a possiblity, it so happerns that I did some research for one of our own family members, Churchills War tends to go by without much recognition. I was researching my great aunt's lad, I remember my geat aunt.
Her boy Ernie and his cousin Billy (my dads half brother) signed up for the Kings Shilling at the same time, Billy ended up in Mesopotamia and ended up being captured by the Turks near Bhagdad, he died in a Turkish POW camp.
My great aunts boy Ernie ended up in the trenches , amazingly he survived and after armistice he thought he was on his way home but he was put on a ship apptley named "The Czar" and shipped up to Arkangel as part of the relief force for the American "Polar Bears" he found himself on a gun boat going down the Divina River into the interior to fight the Bolshovicks in 1919 he ended up in the interior with a bullet through him, he was only a young lad, such a waste, I managed to find the regimental reports that lead up to that incident a lot of this stuff brings tears to your eyes but that's the way it was.

If some one wanted to do more research on Ralph Judson I would say that there are more records to be found. If I find out any more I will let the forum know.

He's a real mystery man, so it would be interesting to learn more. It's quite amazing what family secrets can be unearthed. I have a Baskerville in my family, and came across a relative who lives 2 streets away from my husband in Penrith..
