Bathrooms and electrical zones

Bathrooms are divided into zones for electrical safety reasons.
Below are two drawings (obtained from reputable sources on the Internet) showing these zones. However, the area that is above zone 1 on the wall at the side of the bath above zone 1 is designated zone 2 in one picture but not allocated a zone in the other. They can't both be right. Which one is correct?

Thanks Paul. I observe that it is dated 2003. I also see that it matches my picture that is in yellow. Could it be that there has been an subsequent amendment - in effect, that amendment producing my drawing in that is in blue?

Thanks Mark. Ideally, yes, but I'm simply trying to get some basic essential ideas of what is worthwhile contemplating prior to calling in a qualified electrician. Obtaining a full copy of the regs. for this small exercise is simply not economic for me.

Hello Al, I am glad you posted your thread here where we can read the post, can't comment on the bathroom electrical zoning though as I might have installed my extractor fans in the wrong place!! (although I think they are safe.......hopefully)

Upon close reading of it, I found this:

"The zones are similar to current requirements in the 16th. Edition except for the omission of zone 3, also that zone 2 no longer extends above zone 1." {Colour change by me: for emphasis}

That would seem to explain the differences in my two pictures: one refers to the 16th. Ed., the other to the 17th.

Moreover, it seems that this zoning change has been enabled by the requirement in the 17th. Edition that all electrical fixtures in a bathroom must be supplied by a 30 mA RCD - if fed from a 230v. a.c. source.
